Ancestral Nurishment
"My intuitive logic, when I was 15 years old and putting together my diet, was that such an incredibly advanced "organism" as the human body is, after all, chooses what it needs at any given time, as long as you give it as nutrient-dense and nutritionally diverse food as possible. In other words; if you give the body all the nutrients it needs, in every single meal, it chooses to absorb some nutrients over others all the time, in order to balance itself, while continuously seeking its very best level of functioning."

"Ancestral Nourishment"
by PirkePetter (or PickyPeter)
A holistic philosophy with sustainable lifestyle Prepared by PickyPeter (PP) – A knowledge seeker with a big heart - who helped people to better health
Peter Johnsen, better known as PirkePetter in Norwegian, or PickyPeter - PP for short, was a nutritionist and Holistic practitioner who devoted much of his life to helping people and animals recover from various symptoms, disease states, and diagnoses. Despite having formal education in nutrition and naturopathy, he emphasized that his working knowledge was self-taught through many years of thorough research and critical thinking. PP rejected much of what he learned through his education as impractical or incorrect, and instead based his advice on his own experience, logic, and independent science.
With a direct and often uncompromising communication style, PP built a reputation as both inspiring and controversial. He promoted a philosophy I translate to "Ancestral Nourishment", but to translate it directly from Norwegian would be something like "Traditional Diet," which he developed himself at the age of 15. This was based on nutritious, animal-based foods and a critical attitude towards modern dietary advice, medical paradigms, and industrial influences. He claimed to have helped hundreds of people recover completely from serious conditions—often categorized as "chronic", "genetic", "autoimmune", or "incurable" — without the use of drugs or symptom-focused treatments. Instead, he focused on addressing underlying causes through diet and lifestyle.
I like the name Ancestral Nourishment (AN)- because it is not just food that we put in out mouths. AN also includes our emotions, our state of mind, how we are also nourished from the soil and from the sun - the nature. And that energy flows through our bodies and sometimes we have blockages that needs to be released for the energy to flow freely. PP was a strong advocate for aligning our posture and he wantet us to live a life of JOY!
PP was strongly critical of what he called the "tyranny of experts," the pharmaceutical industry and public health authorities, which he believed promoted lies and myths in favor of profit over people's well-being. He also distanced himself from alternative medicine when it merely replaced pharmaceuticals with "natural remedies" without challenging the disease paradigm itself - and the root cause. His goal was to give people the knowledge and power to take control of their own health, free from indoctrination and unnecessary titles.
In addition to his work in health, PP ran a farm and had ambitions to create a new agricultural concept called "Hortus Vitae – The Garden of Life" with his beloved. This would involve sustainable farming and animal husbandry to provide healthier food and a better life for both people and animals. He also planned to write books to share his knowledge more widely, but lack of time and funding prevented him from completing this before his death.
Through his many posts in blogs and forums, PP appeared as a dedicated, charitable, but also picky and straightforward person - with a great burning commitment to bringing out this philosophy that he showed would save many from illness and suffering. He especially helped many with sick children - myself included. He insisted on clarity in language and facts, and wanted to eliminate confusing diagnoses and dogmas in favor of a new, understandable "health language." Although he was occasionally perceived as arrogant or strict, he emphasized that his only motive was to help others to a better life - not to seek recognition or guru status. PirkePetter left behind a unique contribution through Ancestral Nourishment, a philosophy that still inspires those seeking alternatives to established health paradigms.
PP's Ancestral Nourishment, was so unique, so fundamentally self-evident and simple in its roots, for those who studied it, but also confronting for those who come from a Western medical tradition. For my personal part, it took an enormous amount of unlearning on my way to fully integrate PP's philosophy holistically. With every step on this path, I was always pleasantly surprised by how purposefully correct his knowledge turned out to be - whether I dove into research myself or went to other specialist sources.
Ancestral Nourishment, is a holistic, comprehensive philosophy - which takes you back to your roots, to basic knowledge, to nature, to responsibility for your own health through the wisdom and traditions of your ancestors - and everything is rooted in modern science when you know where to look and how to navigate the sea of information.
My goal is to spread this knowledge to as many people as possible in the spirit of PP. He unfortunately died far too early - and he deserves to have his philosophy revived and spread to the whole world! He never charged payments for his help. When you or your child recovered - then you could pay him if you wanted and could. Some of those he helped went on to publish books and products based on only small parts of his philosophy with great success - without even mentioning PP or giving him any kind of credit - now it is time to give the credit to those who deserve it. All my work is actually based on the teachings from PP. I went on to study different aspects of treatments for releasing stress, tention & trauma from the body according to his suggestions And all of this work I do with SAGA - Nurturing Traditions - is in his honor & memory.
Let´s make "Nourishing Traditions" the revival and reform it deserves - and we all need - to cure modern ill health, and get back to our roots and heal!
